Get out ya seat and jump around!

Jump Jez Jump!
Jump Jez Jump!

Jezebel is back into work. Shes still being treated for ulcers and I’m still in the process of devising an ulcer maintenance plan for her but she’s feeling much better and is ridable. Both Michelle and Sammy have taken her on successful rides on the flat. I even popped on her after Michelle one day because she was  being a super clam and listening pony. I felt awkward and dorkish. That’s what not being able to ride does to ya. I’ll get better the more i get on her. She was doing so well with her rides on the flat that Sammy decided Jez could have a jump day.

She was super happy to be jumping. Shes still figuring it all out. She over jumps, she doesn’t always stay straight but she loves it. She’d spend all day jumping if she could. Sammy started her out with a small cross rail which she over jumped huge in typical Jezebel fashion. Then she moved her on up to the canter pole, vertical, canter pole jump we had set out for her. I’d say it was about 2 feet maybe a touch higher at 2.3. Jez totally got it! Plus she loved it. Ears perked forward the whole time. Pretty much though the whole jump lesson she even got her leads. She did have one moment where she picked up the wrong lead and almost gave Sammy hell for trying to correct her but she did eventually get it with out too much back talk. For Jez-bobo thats a big deal because shes not exactly compliant all the time.  It was really nice to see Miss Jez back to jumping. Shes a jumper for sure and i love watching her figure it all out. She rocks back before the jumps and springs herself over them. Shes a very athletic girl! Jumper shows is where shes headed but shes also going to have to do lots of flat work because im not ready for any jumper shows and i need to be able to ride her. Im hoping that i can get her ulcer issue under control and that she and i can continue to move forward… together.

Then had to cut the lesson short because she was so excited she bit her tongue or something there was some blood but when i cleaned her up i could find no source for it. She could have scraped a point in her inner cheek or something as she’s due to have her teeth done. I’ve been trying to get in touch with a very highly recommended dentist who clearly is not going to work out cuz he cant return a phone message because ive left lots. Ugh horse people! They are often the worst at the whole run a business thing. I don’t want to pay my vet to do it because its just so pricey even though she does a really good job and hand floats. So i’m back to search out a dentist for the girls.

I’m still waiting for tests for Circe to come back but shes much sounder. I have a Cavallo boot on her right hind (i bought them for Jez and ever used them) that gives her some support so shes be able to go back into limited turn out at night. Which makes for a much happier horse and when the horses are happy i’m happy. So thats always a good thing.

When ever Jez jumps i hear this in my head… for reals
