Jezebel is still being treated for ulcers, shes not as reactive when palpated and is much less cranky in general. Sammy did take her on a 20 min how is she feeling ride and she was mostly okay. A little bit of pain anticipation was evident but that should fade with successful rides. A few more days for her and she should be able to get back into work. Circe is a lot less lame. The saga of Circe
[caption id="attachment_1527" align="alignleft" width="225"] The red-head[/caption] Circe's been lame for about 3 weeks now. It started with right front lameness and a suspected bruise. She was taken out of work while i waited for it to heal or abscess. It did neither. My farrier came out and Circe came off the hoof testers pretty hard but it was all over sore. It was time for the redhead to get shoes (clips, pads, magic cushion). We did that and hoped with a day or two she would be better. She wasn't. The day after the shoes went on a lump appeared on the inside of her right leg, below the knee. There was heat along with swelling. Ice, poultice, wrap for a couple days. No change in her lameness. [caption id="attachment_1507" align="alignleft" width="271"] Circe checking out Patty[/caption] When Circe came up lame a week and a half ago and i saw the bruise, I put her on rest and waited it out to see if it would manifest into an abscess or get better. A week went by and it didn't get better. The lameness did get a little more pronounced but she didn't do the abscess turn and ever come up three legged lame. My farrier was due to come out and i figured she would let me know if i was in abscess world or not. [caption id="attachment_1488" align="alignleft" width="300"] I no feel well mom[/caption] I got the call from my friend Stacy who was doing evening feedings and turn out at my barn while Sammy was out of town. Circe was off her food. She hadn't really touched her hay, drank very little water and was picking at her grain aka ration balancer. She seemed really "mellow" and Stacy who knows Circe was concerned. I asked a ton of questions including. 1. How much poop? only 2.5. piles and she was in all day 2. Gut sounds? low gurgling on both sides but faint I called the vet. Not something i wanted to do being as it was Saturday night (I could hear the money flying from my wallet as i made the call) I…

[caption id="attachment_1483" align="alignleft" width="200"] Not broken[/caption] Circe has a stone bruise. Shes getting some time off and I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't turn into an abscess. Time will tell. The redhead has thin soles and this isn't the first time shes had a bruise. I'm using Durasole her feets (i swear by the stuff), giving her some time off and crossing my fingers. Thats pretty much the plan. Oh I gave her some Bute first day just because i don't want her tootsies hurting her to bad. While she has time off Jezebel is being ridden everyday. Perfect example of why two horses is a good thing, when ones broken.... Jezebel is starting to look really good. Her excess weight is coming off and shes starting to muscle up.…
Circe’s first show

A really nice private barn that has recently put up a nice ring with lights and everything. They have been putting on some casual schooling jumper shows and Sammy thought she'd take Circe to her first show as one was coming up. Awesome! The better half got off work early to watch (evening show) and i brought my camera, of course i did. The ring was really nice. Good footing, lights for night time riding, and a 2 story observation room! The ring was divided in two (cuz its huge) they had a course set up on one half and two warm up jumps on the opposite side. Half week in review, the DERP edition

The better half needed a new helmet my Troxel which he had been riding in was not working anymore for him and my Tipperary didn't fit quite right so we went to Dover at 10am mind you and spent all the money. He got a One K (its pretty awesome) Then a mad dash to get to the barn by noon and meet up with Tina and Sammy.
